While casually surfing the Internet today I stumbled upon an interesting article on neurogenesis (a process where nervous tissue is created) and how our behavior throughout life can affect the rate and amount at which our nervous tissue is produced. Some of the more interesting factors that can affect us either for better or worse: marijuana (possibly better), alcohol (possibly better when in moderation), sociability (better around others), diet (just be careful what you eat. sugar is bad), stress (worse) and chocolate (better!).
The article is titled Lobes of Steel and is by Gretchen Reynolds.
Here's something a little different today. It's an encrypted quote. Be forewarned, this is not as easy as the regular cryptograms. Enjoy!

The solution can be found in the general discussion forum.
Have you ever noticed after eating certain foods that your brain performs better at some or many tasks? If you have, then perhaps you already know that your diet can have a significant impact on how your brain functions (and I don't just mean eating versus not eating at all). For example, if you consume wholegrain foods on a regular basis, then the blood flow to your brain will be greater than if you don't, thereby sending more oxygen to one of your most vital organs. Left of Zen, a personal development blog, has recently posted an article titled 20 Super Brain Foods. It's a worthwhile read if you're into nutrition, want to find an easy way towards improving certain skills on the job, or are just interested in improving your brain's abilities in general.
Here's some good news for anyone worried as to whether or not their brain power will diminish as they get older:
How Our Brains Improve With Age
Brain researchers have learned that our brains are just as capable of learning in the second half of life as in the first half. In addition, we've also learned more by this time, simply by growing older and having more time to learn...

Happy new year everyone! Hard to believe we're now living in the year 2008. Y2K? Sooo 8 years ago.
As the central theme of this site is to challenge your brain, I thought it worthwhile to share an article I came across earlier today. It's a good read by Sam Smith on improving your brain power.
The site has been redesigned. Hope you like it!
